Wide range of products
From the heart of East Africa
Tanzania has an overwhelming wealth of natural resources, from the fertile plains of Mount Kilimanjaro to the pristine shores of the Indian Ocean.
Although little known as a source of natural ingredients, the East African country offers a variety of raw materials that are distinguished by their quality and incomparable flavours. Their diverse applications in sectors as diverse as food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals create greater value.
Thanks to the good soil quality in Tanzania, there is also a high potential for organic production. Many small farmers and local communities have started to practise organic farming methods. They want to minimise the use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides and rely on natural pest control instead.
As a buyer of natural ingredients, you should therefore consider Tanzania as an alternative sourcing country. You will find, among other things:
- Nuts such as cashew, macadamia, peanuts
- Pulses, including beans and peas
- Herbs & spices, for example black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla
- Essential oils, such as avocado, moringa or baobab oil
- Dried fruit, salt and seaweed
Of course, Tanzania also offers logistical advantages: its location on the east coast of Africa and access to seaports such as Dar es Salaam and Tanga facilitate the transport of natural ingredients to Europe.
IPD is currently identifying new producers of various natural ingredients. We already have promising companies in our programme that are highly motivated to expand their market potential.
We put you in direct contact with our partners, all of whom we have visited and screened against strict criteria.
