The legend says that a goat herder discovered wild coffee plants in the Ethiopian region of Kaffa in the 9th century. After his goats had eaten the coffee cherries, they were more active and stayed awake longer at night. The abbot of the local monastery then made a drink from the cherries: and coffee was born.

The facts also speak for themselves: Ethiopia is the largest coffee producer in Africa and exports around 190,000 tonnes of Arabica coffee every year.
